Kijani.

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

The Lord very graciously provided us with a vehicle to work with. We immediately fell in love with this very solid vehicle and named it Kijani, which means Green in Swahili.

It was recommended that I take Kijani for a compression test just to get a good indication of the engine wear because it has 330 000km on the clock (200 000 miles.) The results were quite a shock, and as a result we had no option but to rebuild the engine.

On a very positive note, it gave us an opportunity to really get thorough knowledge of the vehicle.

We also built a new off-road bumper because the original plastic one would have been destroyed if we ever ran into deep mud. The paint on the roof was very badly damaged and black, which would not have worked in the hot sun, so we changed it to the same silver colour as the trim. Andrieka was given a nice board to sit on so that she would not dent the roof, so that she could help with the process of scraping off the old paint. Later when we built the roof rack, Andrieka also helped with that project.
